Police Officer Research Paper

Being a police officer is a goal I have had for a long time. Recently, I have begun to research the qualifications need to get on a local police force. The minimum requirements are a high school diploma, at least one or two years of college or an Associates Degrees, however, military training can be subsisted for college courses. Of course, if hired, you must attend the Police Academy for additional training. I plan to meet these requirements by getting my high school diploma and attending community college pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
The duties of a police officer are varied. The most important duty is to protect and serve the people of the community. There is more to a being a police officer than giving out traffic tickets and chasing bad guys and girls. There is community involvement. By that I mean, knowing the people in the community you are sworn to serve. It is important for the police officer to know his area especially streets, roads, and crossways. To respond in a timely manner sometimes depends on knowing the shortest and quickest route to a particular home or street. Usually, the patrolman or woman is on the scene before detectives and crime scene investigators.
Police Officer training could be career if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Training to become an officer can take you to a higher position in the unit. There are written and oral exams for advancement. There are also important training in firearms and firearm safety that must be passed. Officers have to be healthy and in some cases, athletic to keep up the demand on their bodies. Officers also have scheduled mental health examinations.
The average or median wage for a police officer can be as much as $57,000.00 in large
