On August 9th in 2014, police officer Darren Wilson stopped two young black males walking in the road and asks them to move out of the road, a short distance from a liquor store that was just robbed, and according to the officer he notices they match the description of the suspects. After the officer calls into dispatch he says he attempted to block the suspects in and at this point Mr. Brown and Officer Wilson become involved in an altercation.

The President has proposed a three year community policing initiative, which will train and provide resource for agencies (Donovan, 2014). As part of the program officers will be made to wear body cameras on their person. This has been successful in other places and is definitely what is needed in Ferguson. Lincoln, NE has been an exemplary model of what policing should be a community effort where the officers are more akin to social workers. He is worried that the coming warm weather will mean a greater likely hood of altercation between police and citizens (Burke, 2015). Hopefully the leaders in the community take proactive measures to try and bring the community more together and brace themselves for those likely inevitable pockets of violence that will erupt but not let the whole city be swept into it While it may take some time to see it the tragedy has done something, it has called light to the issues of poverty and the rate at which minorities are affected, and not just in Ferguson but the nation. It has spurred some people into action and not just by violence, people are inspired to do something to change the situation and make it better. The government has been forced to take note and has promised funding, how much remains to be seen but it is none the less a
