From 1960s, there has been huge utilization of SWAT teams in high-profile emergencies like hostage cases, hijackings, and fight against terrorism. From the year 1980, large number of SWAT teams has been formed with federal assistance in localities. These teams are formed to primarily work hand in hand with the federal in combating the increasing frequency of drug dealers and warrants. SWAT raids were performed in the small communities. However, the use of SWAT in the small communities caused many unwarranted and unjustified fatalities, damage, and trauma. There was subsequent transformation from community to military policing (Alexander, 5). This revolution began with the passage of the military cooperation and law enforcement Act by the congress in 1981(Alexander, 6). This Act enable the police force to access many types of military facilities and resources. After the passing of this Act, police were able to legally access different military tools (Alexander, 5). The reason behind this freedom to the police was to help in fighting the menace of drug trafficking. The federal believed that allowing police forces to access military facilities would work well in trying to reduce drug traffickers in the nation. It was to work well because they are close to the citizens so the will be able to identify and take stern measures to those found using drugs.
