Some of the challenges that police officers face are as follows; people fear of retaliation for giving up information, racial controversies, assaults, and even false and inadequate police reports. People that may be under the influence or with severe mental illnesses, costs and cuts, the resources, and governance (The Thin Blue Line, 2010). Challenges that the police face affect both the communities they serve, as well as their forces. When the community does not have the people hired to protect and prevent crime, the crimes escalate and increase in frequency. A lack of enforcement could be even cause trust and communication to diminish between the police force and the citizens. Additionally, the police are not able to prevent and witness all crimes, this is why it is important for citizens to do their parts in reporting
