After thinking about a topic to write about and watching a short film called AmeriCAN, I decided to discuss police brutality; since it has been a major topic over the past few months or maybe years. AmeriCAN is a short film and a public service announcement that comes in response to several events that have divided the country to do racial profiling. The cause of this film would be all of the senseless crimes that have taken place over the past few years, such as Travon Martin, Mike Brown, Erick Garnder and a list of others. Each case dealing with different people has affected people in the world in different ways. Some people say that these acts are signs that it is time for the violence to stop among all. Others may say that this shows that racism still does exist or that not all police officers care about the citizens that they are suppose to protect. With all of the different acts towards Blacks over the past few years, this film gives people of all races a view of the acts being committed and a reason why “all lives matter”. This film demonstrates several reasons why people of all, ethnic, religion, gender and age should come together as one; without any issues. Police brutality is a cruel use of excessive force, which is usually physical. Police abuse remains one of the most serious human rights violations in the United States. It is understood that police officers carry an enormous burden each day. In many confrontations the police officers are put in a position in which they may have to use force to control the situation, but that does not give them the right to harm an individual or to take their life. While citizens worry about protecting themselves from criminals, it has been shown that they must also keep a watchful eye on those who are supposed to protect and
