Police Brutality + Black Lives Incidents of police brutality have been occurring more frequently in American media. The news featured many stories about the horrible situation. It has been causing a lot of controversy in the African American communities. Police brutality is when a police officer uses his power to harm or kill an innocent person. Most police officers are serious about their job, but some use their job to show their evil and wicked ways. Most African Americans are angered by the way police officers treat them. The anger turns into rage against one another and violence erupt. The saying “Black Lives Matter “has become popular saying due to police brutality (give specifics about this hashtag movement…who started it…what was it in response to…how many people has it reached). What makes an officer so angry that he has to beat or kill someone? The government should investigate the cases among police brutality. The African American community isn’t the only place police brutality is taken place, but it is the main place. It is time for the polices to put down the guns. African Americans feel that they don’t have any power to fight back because the officer has all the power. The brutality is only going to get worse if a solution cannot be brought to the problem. What is being tested in more and more states and cities is training police in how to gain control of implicit biases. Supported by former Attorney General Eric Holder’s 2014 initiative, the funding and content for this idea has been extended via President Obama’s “Task Force on 21st Century Policing,” which recommends “training for all levels of law enforcement to address implicit bias” (Markman). I think that this might actually help in the future to help get police brutality in control. They can learn ways on how to control their anger instead of pulling the trigger or beating the victim talk to the victim and realized what cause them to commit the
