Discrimination causes a person to feel isolated, disempowered. This then can cause a person to have poor health and feel stressed out. It also causes a lack of trust between patient and the nurses and physicians. They would feel as if they can’t even come to a place where they need help for whatever reason they needed to be seen. Whether its physical health or mental health issues because someone treats them differently because of who they are or how they live their life individuality at all. It also makes them delay or withdraw from getting treatment just so that wouldn’t have to deal with discrimination from people. Discrimination towards certain individuals also affects the people who are passing judgment on others. It makes them lose business. There is nothing worse than going to a business that has bad customer service and would be causing them to make less money. It gives the company for which they work a bad name and goes against their professional working ethic and values. Ethical codes in the health care industry aren’t an optional thing. It is a requirement that all health care professionals must and should abide by. Ethical codes give shape and structure to our environment. They made her wait in the emergency room for eight hours before she was even discovered in a corner passed away. A life could’ve been saved had the health professionals and the hospital involved would’ve had a different policy on the way people are being seen and treated in the facility. I’ve had family members also be a part that type of discrimination as well because they didn’t have insurance and saw people who have gotten faster care then them because they had insurance. No matter whether or not a person has insurance, private or governmental based a person would be seen in a timely manner and in the order they , regardless if they had insurance or
