It goes on to say that because of social media police brutality is now in the media and is being talked about on news channels, when it never was before. Some people might not think that police brutality was happening a few years ago because it was never on the news or talked about, but in reality it happens around us all the time and thanks to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and many more social media sites police brutality is being brought to our eyes. This website has all sorts of facts about police brutality on black individuals, going as narrow as police violence in your state and city. As I was looking through the facts, it was hard for me to believe some of the things I was looking at. At least 242 black people have been killed in 2015 so far. Most of police brutality takes place on the east coast. One of the highest months of black people killed was in September of 2014, when about 43 black people were killed, just in that month. Black people are three times more likely to be killed by police then white people. Thirty three percent of black people are unarmed compared to the eighteen percent of white individuals. Black people are six times more likely to be killed in Oklahoma and Georgia. This next fact shocked me, out of the 100 largest cities 17 of them had higher rates of police killings then the U.S murder rate in 2014. Twenty-nine percent of black suspects were killed and armed, while seventy one percent were killed and unarmed. The final fact that I looked at is pretty sad, only 3 out of the 242 killings so far in 2015, the officer was charged with the crime. After looking at all these facts its just amazing that police officers can be above the law. Police officers, in my eyes, still need to follow the laws. Now some people might say they are the law, but there are too many
