Police Briefing Report Essay

Members of the Pomona SWAT team were notified of a possible warrant call-out to occur at approximately 0600 hrs on 4/22/16. A briefing for the warrant was held at 0400 hrs on 4/22/16 at the Pomona SWAT Office. All times in this report are approximate. Also present at the briefing was the case agent ( Officer Jaime Martinez) and assisting officers from patrol. The operation was briefed to the team by Sergeant Ramos and Officer Hernandez. A brief back was conducted to ensure job assignments.

The team received a call out notification at approximately 0814 hrs on 4/21/16. Team members responded to the SWAT Office to prepare for the warrant. Final instructions were given by Sergeant Ramos and Officer Hernandez and a final check was conducted for

The window on the left side of this door was immediately broken/ported with a tool by Officer Hernandez while Sergeant Ramos looked inside the window to provide cover for the entry team. Officers A. Rodriguez and De La Vega utilized and "Punch and Pull" tool to breach the metal security door.

The entry team encountered a female and an infant laying in the bed inside the living room. Also encountered in the kitchen were another 2 male and a female. All occupants were detained without incident The residence consisted of one large room and a small bathroom. The kitchen had been split into two separate areas. One of them for cooking the other for sleeping. Officers located a loaded firearm on the nightstand next to the bed. One of the males encountered in the kitchen was identified as the main target, Adan Martinez.

At the same time , Team 2 breached the shed using a pick and ram and deployed a NFD due to the delay at the breach point at 0559 hours. The shed did not contain any occupants and consisted of a small living area. The location was cleared and deemed Code 4 at 0608
