In 2014, the shooting and killing of Michael Brown left many with uncertain answers due to having uncertain claims from witnesses. The claims made by witnesses did not corroborate with the crime scene. Many of the witnesses claimed that Michael Brown was a victim of Officer Wilson as he posed no threat and yet was shot and killed. Certain witnesses claimed that Michael Brown had his “hands up” when he was shot. Later, the autopsy was able to dismiss the “hands up” claim. Uncertain cases like Michael Brown 's inquire the need for more reliable witnesses that can explain in detail the beginning to the end of a situation. As stated by Pearce(2014), police agencies who are using BWV have no guidelines on what to record and when to record. Having no guidelines can lead to recording anything that the public may not agree with. Pearce (2014) stated that rape and domestic violence situations can be situations in which the victims feel their privacy is being invaded. Due to the embarrassing factors that both rape and domestic violence pose the victims will have a problem with being recorded with a BWV. A different privacy issue with the use police BWV is also the recording of individuals inside of their homes. According to Pearce(2014), technology is advanced that recordings of dash cameras have leaked through Youtube and thus raise the concern that recording of BWV can have the same outcome. Advocates opposing the use of BWV are concerned that their homes and embarrassing moments will be posted in websites like Youtube.
