Introduction
The deaths of police officers are 44% higher than it was last year and over 194 African Americans have been killed in encounters with police thus far according to an article from USA Today published in July 2016. Police use of force has been heavily scrutinized in recent years after fatal police encounters with unarmed Black men in New York City, Ferguson, Baltimore and other parts of the United States. While there has always been tension among police officers and minority groups, including African Americans, it is currently at an all-time high. The heighten tension and dangerous rhetoric from different groups and individuals have led to the deaths of multiple police officers throughout the country, murdered in cold blood. Having rising hostilities between police officers and civilians threaten the stability of the United States of America as there are open attacks on officers, and confidence in police of African Americans is severely low.
