Police culture is the result of history and behavior of the police officer within the force. Before someone could be appointed to the police department they have to be trained, and once they have been trained they will be different from the society especially the ones with the army experience. It is important for officers/ individuals to keep in mind that there are instances that are up to interpretation as to whether a police officer makes a good or bad decision. Officers have to make judgment based of hear say testimony, an individual will call the police but they are not necessarily the person who is in the right, it is up the officers internal description to make a judgment. The officer is to keep in mind all measures and procedures when it comes down to making his decision. some internal mechanism that influence police discretion are the laws and rules made for police to follow. Some internal mechanism s that influence police discretion are the type of people and situations they encounter. For example if a officer pulls someone over and they don 't have a drivers license present he can look them up with that 's comes a person driving record the officer can make the decision to give out a citation or just a warning at that time?? if the person has a good driving record. If this was opposite and a person did have a drivers license present with a bad driving record would it be right to allow this person off with a warning or citation???
