Polar Ice Caps

Global pollution has been a largely discussed topic of debate for an extraordinarily long time. Although many believe that humans have nothing to do with this epidemic, many statistics, studies, and facts support the evidence that our species is the main cause. Our wastefulness and inefficiency has led to major spikes in greenhouse gas emissions over the past century. The global warming epidemic is leading to polar ice caps melting, and in the next couple of centuries, may cause an overall flooding of the earth as well as the extinction of such species as the polar bear. Studies have shown that natural emissions such as volcanoes and the sun have very little to do with global warming, but that greenhouse gases are the leading cause of it. As well as this study, NASA, the National Aeronautics Space Administration, has also done many studies and has evidence that supports the claim that climate change is leading to the rise of ocean levels. The studies that they have done have said that the ocean is taking in about 90% of climate change heat, which leads to the ice in the polar ice caps melting. In the lifetime of a newborn baby, water levels are said to rise about one to four feet. This is a major problem because this flooding water can mix with rivers, lakes, and reservoirs where many species, including us, get our water. This water is also used for farming. which is detrimental to growing the food supporting the life of the human species. The salty water can lead to many problems to come in the very near future.
