Polar bears are in trouble. They rely on sea ice to catch and eat seals. When a polar bear is hunting they sit and wait for a bit outside the breathing holes seals use. When a seal comes up for air the polar bear swipes at it with its paw, stunning it, grabs it by its neck, and drags it out of the icy waters. A scientist who studies the decline of polar bears said to National Geographic “they are far more successful doing this than any other method of hunting… that's why the melting of the Arctic sea ice threatens polar bear survival.” If humans keep polluting the air the Arctic ice melts faster and faster.
