Poland Spring Water Case Study

A recent purchase I made in a store was for water at my local super market. With the New Year approaching it was one of my goals to drink more water for I was looking to buy a couple cases of water to stock up on. I went into Stop & Shop and right when I walked in there was a display of Poland spring water all stacked up and with a huge sign displaying the brand name and sale price. Stop & Shop had promoted the cases of water so you could immediately see them as you walked through the doors. It was a smart strategy, because without even noticing it, I had that brand stuck in my head as I was looking at other choices. They had these displays and more down the water isle. They carried in bulk and their display was eye catching and memorable against competing brand names. Having a separate display along with a regular display in the …show more content…
Their signs were big and clear with bold print promoting their brand and sale price. They advertised a 24 case pack of water for $5.50 instead of the original price of $9.50 a case. With such a great deal I could not pass up this offer and I was even able to buy more water than I was planning on getting. Other competing brands of water did not take advantage of having a separate display or having big signs and a great sale at such a popular time in the year for events and holidays. Other brands also did not offer the same amount of bottles of water in a case as well, such as Aquafina was selling 12 bottles of water for a little more than the price I could get 24 bottles with Poland Spring. The in-store promotion influenced my purchase dramatically. Even before hitting the water isle Poland Spring’s brand had caught my eye and with such a great deal at the time I had to go with it. Their product placement, having a bulk of big cases, eye catching signs, and an easy choice of purchase compared to the other brands sold me to buying their Poland Spring
