Poisoned Waters The documentary, Poisoned Waters is about water pollution in the United States and the many different consequences the pollution has on some specific areas. They begin in Chesapeake Bay where they talk about how the pollution has changed many things in the bay over the years, for example many of the local businesses have gone out of business due to lack of fish in the bay. They stated that throughout the year there are times that 40% of the bay is completely covered with algae. These are referred to as “dead zones” because organisms are unable to survive in these areas. Then we go to look at the Potomac River and here they discussed the reasons why animals are dying or becoming mutated. Although, throughout this video they made it very clear that actions we humans are making to pollute water is not only doing harm to the water and its organisms but harming us also. By making this video they were attempting to create awareness to the people in these areas and all over the United States. It is hard to let everyone know how dangerous water pollution really is, and telling everyone they have to change their lifestyle will not get the economy anywhere, because they often don’t care. They stated in this video that 75% of Americans live near a waterway, therefore most of us are affected in some way but we just do not care. I definitely agree with the viewpoint expressed in this documentary. After watching this it really opened up my eyes and made me realize how serious water pollution can be. Since the video showed the pollution at each of these sites it helped me visualize what the waterways looked like and how the animals living here were affected by the
