This summer was a very busy summer for us this year with the 25th Anniversary of the Point Tupper Heritage Association long weekend events, our annual Causeway Tea and Closing Social. This summer we have seen a high volume of visitors coming through our doors to learn more about Point Tupper before Industrialization took over the area. For us it was lovely to see so many people interested in Point Tupper and to have even visitors discover roots to Point Tupper through chatting and looking through the albums. As summer students we see what has been written in the binders or hear stories of where houses, stores and things used to be. It was interesting to see where this person used to live and how big Point Tupper really was before industry came in and took over. It will definitely serve us well next time someone comes in asking where some houses were standing before everything changed. Our picnic was a hit we had over 150 families with ties to Point Tupper registered and even more to learn more about our forgotten community.
Sunday, July 3rd marked our commemorative church service for Point Tupper it was led by Lorena Forbrigger, Frances Warner and Marie Langley with a special speech from our Association president Alice Beaton for a plaque presentation in the name of Point Tupper Heritage Museum. This was dedicated to all past and present members of the Point Tupper Heritage Association. Who have devoted both time and energy to the preservation of the Church in Point
