Throughout the book the switches off first person views with between June and Day, but also it shows other people’s perspective through the eyes of June and Day. For example, they use the June and her thoughts to show the perspective of Thomas, “I trail off as Thomas continues to stare at the floor, his expression oscillating between blankness and pain.”(105), This shows the point of view of Thomas, he was considered an enemy of both June and Day, the person that ruins everything. He ruined June and day by killing her some of their family members. In reality, Thomas was as broken as to June and Day was,“I listen in shocked silence. Thomas had never wanted to kill Metias.” (104-105) Thomas was so loyal to the Republic that he broken himself and others for the sake of an oaf, this connects to the theme because everyone saw Thomas as this heartless devil, but the it was the Republic controlling him, and that Thomas was also very disappointed with himself. This addition this connects to June, right after the murder of she was told that Day had killed Metias (June’s brother). “That’s what your pretty Elector's doing to my brother. Now, you still think he released him?” (260) This goes with the theme because he doesn’t believe that his that his brother is alive or health. Day always assumes the worse because of past experience, he believe that his brother is a “test rat” in a Republic lab. He thinks that June is lying about that his brother is safe, and doesn’t know if he should even trust her anymore because he thinks she is loyal to the Republic now based on Tess and Beaxer brainwashing him with their bias lies. “...but he’s here, alive and well, strong enough to walk and talk.”(356) but the truth is, the Elector did free him, and that his brother is alive and well, and not a test rat with a starving

Both are prevalent throughout the novel and add to Candide’s satiric tone. Pangloss and his student Candide believe that “everything happens for good in this best of possible worlds”. Pangloss is often philosophizing and distracts Candide and himself and makes it hard to interact with the world around them. Thelma and Louise, a film by Carolyn Ann Khouri, trails the liberations of two working class women in the 90’s. These women plan a weekend away from the men in their lives due to the fact that Thelma’s husband is a misogynistic man who feels that a woman’s job consists only of housework and cooking. In the first scene of the movie Thelma wants to ask her husband, Darryl, for permission to go on the trip with Louise. He yells at her and she quickly changes the subject. In my opinion, this is one of the most crucial scenes in the entire film because it outlines the sexism and discrimination that these two women will face throughout the course of the movie.…
