In Naomi Shihab Nye’s “Hamadi”, Susan is a smart, inquisitive girl who enjoys leaning the stories and life lessons her family friend Hamadi shares with her. Susan is the protagonist of the story, as the plot revolves around her. The short story’s point of view is a 3rd person limited narrator that gives the reader insight on Susan’s thoughts and feelings about the events in the story.
