Golding uses a third person omniscient point of view in Lord of the Flies. Using this point of view, compared to a first person, allows the reader to know the thoughts and experiences of many of the boys, not just Ralph. This propels the plot of the story by showing the reader that if one boy or group of boys know or think something, and fail to correctly communicate it with the others, that this miscommunication can cause a conflict or event.
