Many people have different views on why songwriters express who they are by writing songs. Some people believe that they express themselves to show the positivity and negativity in their life and some express themselves to show their identity to people. But I believe that songwriters write songs so they can show others who they actually are and express their true feelings. People go through many ups and downs in their life. So when songwriters write these songs, they try to express themselves as much as possible.

Viewers can learn from these songs and know what the writer has done wrong so they don’t repeat their mistakes. For example the song “The Monster” by Eminem is about how fame is making him feel too full of himself and how getting rich and being popular isn’t the only thing in life. He’s trying to tell people that fame sometimes isn’t always a good thing. You change yourself as a person and you start believing you’re better than everyone else. For example, he states “I wanted the fame, but not the cover of Newsweek” (5). This means that he wanted to become famous but not so famous that he overlooked all the good things he had done and forgot how he was as a human being. Another example is “Ironic’ cause I think I’m getting so huge I need to shrink/ I’m beginning to lose sleep: one sheep, two sheep/ going cuckoo and cooky as Kool Keith” (17-19). This means that fame is driving him crazy now. Before he assumed it was a good thing, but now he’s going crazy. I personally feel that by sharing your stories with others, people learn many lessons and know what they should and not do. By sharing their stories, people learn that being famous isn’t necessary in life which kids these days need to hear. Songs give people life lessons which they can learn
