That is the reason why the sonnet is a 14 line poem so that we could fit all of the rhyme into it. Sonnets are everywhere in literature classes and people learn about them everyday. Having the 14 lines helps out lines the poem. When you are working with the rhyme style with this is that the same letter has to end with a rhyme word. So you have to plan your sentences out that when you come to the next letter you 'll know what you need to end with. That 's the main part in my eyes and the hardest part in doing sonnets. Once you get your rhyme scheme in your mind then you 'll have it easier to write a …show more content…
These poems are time consuming but not to William Shakespeare. That guy wrote so much sonnets it is crazy. It makes me wonder about how much time he actually did writing these things. . I mean obviously he is good because he wrote so many but how long did it take him to write these things. It took me a week to write one and mine is not even good. Shakespeare wrote over 100 of these things and all of them are considered good. Maybe because he did it so much he became a master at it. He could do it without even thinking much about it. There are a lot of things that make a sonnet but that only for it to be a sonnet. My sonnet means a lot to me because I could reflect on mine and know what was on my mind at that time. I know what I was thinking and feeling about. So even if other people would not like mine that doesn’t make my sonnet bad. To me my sonnet is one of the best ever because the meaning I put into it. Meaning is a special part about a sonnet and to know that William Shakespeare wrote so many of these he must of had a lot of

The sonnet has three groups of four lines, or quatrains, and a pair of two lines, known as a couplet. Shakespeare’s poem uses the literary device of satire to criticize and counter the expectations of true beauty. In each line or every two lines, Shakespeare, the speaker, briefly describes what society thinks beauty is; he then contradicts that assumption with his vision of beauty, using the woman he loves. For example, Shakespeare says that music, which is what a woman’s voice should supposedly sound like, sounds much better than the voice of the woman he loves (9/10). However, he loves her regardless of how far she falls from the standards that society expects of her.…

“Those Winter Sundays” is technically a sonnet as it has 14 lines, however, it does not rhyme and is not in iambic pentameter. Nevertheless, sonnets are frequently identified as an expression of love and although “Those Winter Sundays” describes a love a father shows his children, it shares this commonality. In contrast, “We Real Cool” is broken in four stanzas, each containing a two line couplet. The rhyme is in the middle of the couplet not the end like many traditional poems giving readers a sense of continuity as the poem flows from line to line.…
