Poetry By Marianne Moore

''Poetry'' by Marianne Moore was very interesting. For you to understand this poem you have to break it down paragraph by paragraph to truly understand the meaning that's in this. This Poem at first was confusing I had to read it a second time to understand what's going on. The way this poem was set, it was hard to find out the meaning. I think out of all the other poems I think this one was the hardest to crack down, but the best thing out of this poem was when I finally understood it, I was able to see where Moore was going with it. I can relate to this poem because in the first paragraph it talks about how she doesn't like poetry and I don't like poetry. I don't like writing and I certainly don't like reading it, but as we continued she

I have been writing some assignments in which I had to include poetry, logos, pathos, ethos and many more during this school year. It has taught me how to use each one of them in different ways. During this school year I read a poem which is written by Emily Dickinson and it taught me how poetry is written and it also carries a meaning or an hidden message, also an expression or thought that the person feels. For example, in one of her poems “hope” she uses an example of a bird or a angel to express her thought or feelings and how it can destroy you in a quick instant, but it can also help without expecting anything from you.…

I can remember I didn’t think much of the poem. Maybe I just don’t understand poetry” (Carver 33). Clearly, it seems that Carver uses a first person point of view so that readers can see a glimpse of the narrator’s jealousy as he expresses his feelings of displeasure in the poem not being written about him. Furthermore, the husband’s lack of interest in his wife’s poem suggests that his jealousy is causing him to overlook or completely miss any beauty in his wife’s writing. He even tries to brush off his envious feelings concluding that he “just [doesn’t] understand poetry” (Carver 33).…

Born in Beverly Massachusetts, on May 5, 1824, Lucy Larcom’s fate was destined to be a mill worker. Although she was primarily known for her work as a poet, it wasn’t till she started working at the Textile Mills in Lowell Mass, that she found her true strength in poetry. I would argue that Larcom’s experience as a female worker at the turn of the 18th century is the over all them of the majority of her work. Specifically speaking, in the poem Weaving I see how her personal experience is used to construct the true vision for women working in the textile mills.…

Poetry is a way for people to express their inner most thoughts and feelings. When I read poems, I feel as if I can feel exactly what the author is feeling. Edward Hirsch believes “a reader of poetry is a kind of pilgrim setting out, setting forth” as explained in his article, “To the Reader Setting Out”. Hirsch compared a reader to a pilgrim in his article. In his article, he stated, “Reading poetry is an adventure in renewal, a creative act, a perpetual beginning, a rebirth of wonder.”…

In the poem,"Minerva Jones" by Edgar Lee Masters ,he writes about the sad life of an old crippled lady who was hated. I learned that this person is a writer of poetry and isn 't very pleasant looking from how Masters describes her. The person she speaks about in the poem are "Butch" Weldy and Doctor Meyers, who have different poems of their own as well. " Butch" Weldy is the one that hunts down Minerva (Goddess of Wisdom) and Doctor Meyers is the one that attempts to save her. The poet lets us know that small-town America is very judgmental because you can say that those who were wise were the ones being judged("hunts") by their appearance and their beliefs.…

My interpretation of what poetry is most likely the same as what anyone else it is thinking; whatever the poet at the time wants it to be. Poetry is open to anything. It can express anger, happiness, hatred, fear, love, passion, joy and any other form of expressions known to man. Before this assignment I was not big on poetry outside of when it was required to read in school. I decided on the poem “To Change the World Enough” by Alice Walker, mainly because I was able to understand most of what the poem was saying.…

Literature Paper Poetry can be very complex and even though it can vary and use different techniques to get the point across it may come to the same conclusion and meaning, and can also be interpreted differently. Poetry is meant to be understood in the reader's own way. Why I Hate Raisins, Hand-Me-Down Halloween, and My Brother at 3AM are about the struggles of living in the reservation, but use different style, syntax and tone. Why I Hate Raisins is a poem about the struggles of not having enough food or not being able to afford food other than what they received. It is written in subtly and sounds simple, so the true meaning behind the poem is not really understood until the end, and has a deeper meaning.…

Have you ever contemplated that something may be so close yet so far? As such saying that goes by, “Good from far, far from good.” Truth be told, this is in fact in unity with what is Poetry and the Visual Arts. Accepting others: A Choice Barbara Jordan once said with “ We, as human beings, must be willing to accept people who are different from ourselves.” Accepting others is very important. For another person’s happiness, as in “Without Title” by Diane Glancy, the needs of the community, reflected in the story “What of this Goldfish, would you wish” by Etgar Keret and for the stepping forward of a nation, shown in “American Flag stands for Tolerance” by Ronald J. Allen. “Without Title” a poem by Diane Glancy, shows the effects of people not accepting people who are different.
