Haiku Poetry

There are many different types of poetry. Millions of people around the world have either written or read about one. Many poets have written and express their feelings in their work. People are using poetry as a way to express what they want to say in a short or long form of literature. It can also be a good way in calming yourself down if you are going through a bad time in your life. Haiku is an example of this type of poetry. The interesting part of Haiku is that it has a unique form that is different from others, which was created in Japan but later spread around the world. According to Higginson “Basho a master of haikai brought the genre to its peak in the late seventeen century. He virtually created what we now know as haiku with the excellence of his independent hokku” (7). Basho virtually created the way people now know modern haiku by making powerful pose poems. Haiku is mostly writing based on what season it is. For example, if it is summer then poets will create a piece of haiku based on things that you might do in the summer. Additionally, when you are writing your haiku there can be different themes based on your topic. If poets do not want to write about the different types of seasons, then there can write about their personal experience or basically about anything there want to write about. “As the result of the greater knowledge seasonal basis….. Haiku poets have begun to develop regional list of season words” (8). This shows that as haiku keeps getting stronger and poets are keeping track of all the main and well known works of haiku. Additionally, there are making it easier for young poets to write their haiku because most of the important words that you need is saved and can be located easily.
