Theme Of Control By Halssey

Control

The song that I am going to analyze is “Control” by Halsey. The song is titled control because, the singer mentioned that she has bipolar disorder, and she feels the constant confusion and frustration of who is actually controlling her state of mind. In the song many things symbolize her state of mind, and how she sees it, which would be like a “deadly disease”.

The important symbol that is used in this song is “I’m bigger than my body, I’m colder than this home”, meaning that she see’s herself as something that is much better than what her body represents or shows, while the other part symbolizes how her other persona can be mean or cold to people. Simply maybe because sometimes she would feel confident, standing up to herself

And last but not least of these metaphors is: “all the kids cried out “please stop your scaring me”, I can’t help this awful energy, you should be scared of me”. This could represent how she see’s her state of mind, she thinks that she has blood in her hands, thinking she’s done something bad which is why the kids are scared of her. In the next line she feels more confident saying that she’s more brutal, stating it that she knows that she’s terrifying and is accepting it.

Of course there is a repetition in the song, which is the same line I have stated in the previous paragraph “all the kids cried out “please stop your scaring me”, I can’t help this awful energy, you should be scared of me”, I chose this as a repetition because of it being a chorus, it needs to be repeated over and over, to remind the listeners about what the singer is singing. There is also a personification found in the song, which is “the house was awake” and “the hallways they echoed and groaned” this could be her portraying the house as

The other emotion is anger, I think of this because one of the things the singer feels in this song is anger, she angry with her demons, and also she wants to be angry because she wants to be stronger than her own demons, but only for the purpose to defeat them. Of course after she failed, the singer is also angry, angry on what she is and why she isn’t better with herself.

The recurring theme of this song is that most people aren’t as perfect as you might think they would be, and sometimes these people struggle on against their anxiety, depression, disorder and etc. Some people need to fight their inner demons because sometimes that’s what keeps them going on, and holding on the tightrope, this really represent the aspect of some people who are struggling with these kind of things, and this song shows how hard it can be for them. It’s hard because they need to hide these feelings deep inside, and fight this

Is something still scaring you? Alright then tell me so, have you really danced on edge? Just hold my hand and go”, this part of the song describes the couple committing suicide and being indecisive, figuring out what has been holding them back and what still is, but finally just doing it so they can have a long craved forever. Just like when Ethan and Mattie go straight into the tree but it ends horribly because the two end up with permanent paralyzation and damage to their faces and…

This song is about a man who resolves to (or is trying to alter his ways) before he starts changing the world. He speaks about how certain situations he has seen has really affected him (e.g. the impoverished children in the streets) and how he desires and feels that to make a really major change, he must start with himself (the man in the mirror.) This song focuses on self-reflection and the inner struggle of one individual to become better, more upright and more moral. It brings about questions such as, “What is the individual’s responsibility to society? Can we change the world by changing ourselves?…

Often, Haruki Marukami’s short stories are one-sided and only demonstrate one side to gender representations. Most of Marukami’s fictional stories exemplify patriarchy in Japan, during which his female characters are positioned as objects for the subjectivity of males. The women used in Murakami ‘sworks are not empowered by feministic views; thus, the female subjects do not stand up for their own well-being. Throughout Haruki Marukami’s stories, female characters are used to represent the realities that several females faced in contemporary Japan, such as: isolation and seclusion, contradictive feminism, and fierce violence. This is evident in Marukami’s…

Wallpaper With a Thousand Words “The Yellow Wallpaper” is an important story, but digging has to be done to see so. The author Charlotte Perkins displays a feminist interpretation in an impressive way. Her use of metaphors brings out the true meaning behind this story. The wallpaper represents the way women are treated in our society, and the author tells a story of a “madwoman” to represent this overall theme. The house is the whole backbone to the story and is a one of the metaphors used.…

This song talks about the speaker who is abused by her boyfriend but she stands by him because she loves him. This is similar to when we find out that Mayella was abused by her father but still loves him because well, it’s her father. They both show unhealthy relationships and how bad things can be at home. The mood in both of this song and the book is desperate. They are both desperate for love and will do anything to stay by their family/man.…

__I think the meaning of the song that Beyoncé wrote is describing pain and what females have to go to or young teens go through, trying to impress the world, and society. How that all what we do don’t mean anything or how we present ourselves maybe we aren’t too happy on the inside maybe everything isn’t all that’s well. I like the song genre because it really feels like music for our souls trying to heal it also. The new generation now we teenagers are affected by this particular song. I think the most powerful lyrics of the song is “pretty Hurts”, because that is the pain of the song the ultimate feelings that’s what she’s trying to get the audience to understand.…
