n the two works there is one main theme. The theme is that we are blind to the world around us. We only are interested in ourselves and not the people around us. We do not show any support to people because we are too focused on ourselves in this day in age.

The message in the two works is that we are blind of what is going on around us except for ourselves. What that means is that we care only about ourselves and that we are selfish. The main thing i think that it’s trying to tell us is we need to care more about people around us for a change to better the world. As a result of all this i think we should start helping people around us to not only better are self but to make a change for the better. Change is needed so we need to realise

One of the lines that clearly shows the theme in the poem states “A hungry man left on the streets.” That line tells us that we need to realise what is going on around us in the world. Another line in the poem that lead me to finding out the theme of the two works is “A battered girl whose hell repeats. One character that shows the theme life isn’t fair is Pony-Boy. Pony boy said “I lie to myself all the time. But I never believe me.” That shows Pony-Boy has a negative attitude and lies to himself to make situations feel better.. Another character that exemplifies that life isn’t fair is Dally. Dally says “you get tough like me and you won’t get hurt. You look out for yourself and nothin’ can touch you.” By saying that he is trying to let people know you need to worry about yourself and forget about the people around you. Also another character that clearly shows life isn’t fair is Two-Bit. Two-Bit states “you're not like the rest of us don't try to be.” By saying that he’s trying to say not everybody fits in with him and you’re not in the right crowd.
