Fishing
There I was in the water where I was dropped down from a chopper, which is flying above. I am here to explore and examine the creatures and plants of the deep with my camera. I go under the water in search of new and exciting discoveries to be found and shared. As I am diving deeper and deeper I see nothing but dullness, and then I notice a dark and mysterious shadow in the distance a little ways out. I am scared out of my mind for I am alone in the ocean. They gigantic shadow just keeps getting closer and closer and then I can finally make out that it is a great white shark coming right at me, so I hurry to the surface and wave my hands frantically getting the attention of the chopper. They send the ladder down and I start climbing

“Fishhawk” was the first poem of the Classic of Poetry, the earliest poetry collection of East Asia (p.1322). In contrast to many poems in the “Airs of Domain” that propagated Confucianism, “Fishhawk” is a simple love poem. The poem revolves around a young man who was “tormented by his desire for a girl”(p.1322). While this poem is labeled as a “romantic folk song”(p.1322), the good use of literary elements, syntax, and language added a bit of tint to the love story.…

While reading “ Your Catfish Friend” by Richard Brautigan I was confused as to the meaning of the poem but after reading it a few times it became clearer. From the very beginning of the poem one gets the sense that the author believes he is in accordance with a catfish a fish that: is a bottom feeder, lives in mud, and is known for being unpleasant.
