My eyes slowly opened as I tried to collect myself. I was in my Brother’s (Nate) room with my siblings Nate, Zach, and Rachel. Being the oldest, Rachel organized us all together to start making breakfast. I started to realize that it was the best day of the year, Christmas, 2009. We all helped make coffee and toast to later give to our parents. While we waited for the water to heat up we practice our Christmas Carols we would sing to our parents.
Once we finished making breakfast we gathered everything together and headed towards our parents room. We brought the breakfast in and gave it to them and started to sing our carols to them, the same fun thing every year. As normal, afterward they said we did a good job and thanked us while they would

I opened it up to find a blank page on the front and when I opened it there was a letter written on the left side. The letter was from ‘Santa’. It said how our family was getting a dog as a present and we would receive it on December 31st (New Year’s Eve). The letter also included that the dog was a she and she was born on August 21, 2009. It also included that she was a mix between a Poodle and a Cocker Spaniel, and some other information. Inside of the card was a picture of the puppy that we were getting. She was a semi-shaggy, brown, small, and (of course) cute dog. We all celebrated for a while because all us had always wanted a dog as a pet especially Nate. The rest of Christmas was amazing, with great presents, fun, and family …show more content…
After long thought we had reached the idea of , “Truffle”. We would name our puppy Truffle, after the chocolate candy Lindor Truffle. We thought it would suit the puppy because of the size and color of the puppy.
It was December 31st and we were driving home from our grandparents house during the early afternoon. In the car-ride we were anticipating if Truffle would be at our house yet or not. All us really wanted to meet and see Truffle. Finally, the car-ride that seemed a lot longer than it actually was, ended and we had arrived in our driveway. We all anxiously got out of the car and walked over to the door and opened up the door curiously.
We walked in and saw a cage in the middle of the room with our new puppy, Truffle. We unlatched the door of her cage as she raced out and started running around wildly, pausing to lick us and paw at our legs happily. We all laughed and kissed back while trying to hug the squirming little puppy. She was even cuter than in the picture and I could tell she was going to bring a lot of joy and happiness to my life. While we were there with her we noticed some of her toys and Nate grabbed one of her tennis balls. “Here Truffle,” Nate said, “Fetch!” She bolted after the ball, snagged it, and then dropped it at Nate’s feet

When she found out she was shocked, “the reason it was deeded to the veterinary students was that the barn had bats and we were the only ones guaranteed to have a rabies vaccination” (Vogelsang 45). Near the end of the story when Jessica is explaining what happened to their deceased family dog, her young children misunderstand her message that their dog went to Heaven; her son said, “She’s going to Kevin” (Vogelsang 308). This simple statement brings light to the topic of their beloved pet’s passing. I sincerely recommend this memoir to everyone, especially animal lovers. Anyone who has ever had a pet will understand the wonderful messages in the story.…

As I was excitingly woken up by my brothers on Christmas, I ran downstairs to see what I had gotten. I opened my presents like I do every year, and got excited about them like every year, and then thanked everyone for my presents like every year. Whenever my mom pulls out her phone, the family knows she’s about to record something or take pictures . So, my brothers and I cautiously looked at each other, deciding if we should get excited or not.…

The school had just gone off for winter break. I was excited to be free of homework for two weeks I thought to myself. As days past I would just relax by sleeping in more than I would usually and play video games with some friends and my cousins. Then Christmas came out of nowhere and I got to see relatives that I haven't seen for in years at my grandma's house that had been decorated with big old-fashioned Christmas lights.…

Suddenly Joseph started screaming and jerked his hand out of the hole, flinging something across the yard in the process. Upon further inspection, Joseph and I realized that the object he had flung was a light-brown baby rabbit. The rabbit had bitten Joseph which was what had caused him to jerk his hand back. We only thought it appropriate to name him Nibbles. At first we thought Nibbles had been killed on impact.…

On my very first birthday, my grandpa bought me this stuffed lab. It’s name was Stormy and it was small, with a dark brown name tag that said Yomiko Classics on the front, and soft with a mix of light and dark brown fur. I loved it very much, especially since it was a gift from my Grandpa, someone I loved dearly. I played with Stormy all the time, I took her on car rides with me, playgrounds, I even slept with her. I treated her as if she were a real dog, even though she was just a stuffed animal.…

It was a sweltering day in the summer of 2009. The dawn of the day started like any other day, with the rising sun and the bright blue sky; however, it ended like no other day. I woke up to the sounds of chatter that came from downstairs. It was noisier than usual because we had family from California and Canada over at our house. This happened due to the fact that our two-story house had unoccupied rooms, but there was an influx of people, so my brother and I had to surrender the room that we shared and sleep in our parents’ room.…
