The Disney and historical portrayal have differences and similarities between the movie and the historical portrayal. The story Pocahontas is set back in the early 1600’s in America, where she was captured and forcefully brought to England to live. The three main points are her effects and looks are different while her actions are the same.

To start with, Pocahontas’s looks were very different compared to the story. Pocahontas’s style in the movie was much more expressed for example when John smith encountered Pocahontas, John smith was shocked of how amazing she looked. This explains that Pocahontas really cares of how she looks and dresses compared to the others. Then in the story her looks were not expressed as much nor as important “She began to dress like a Powhatan women, wearing a deer skin apron and a leather mantle in the winter”. This is important because this shows she has a different character trait and is unique and different from the others. To conclude, the historical version shows how she does not care of how she looks or dress but in the Disney movie she shows how she is different from the others.

Stories are told different ways after every generation, and that goes the same for fairy tales. Throughout time the main concept never changes, only by a slight bit. At first glance, Straparola story The Pig King would have nothing to do with the modern day adaption of Beauty and the Beast. However, the concept of the story is basically the same throughout, and these similarities lead me to believe that the, oh so famous, movie Beauty and the Beast originated from this tale.
