Reflection Two: The Course Review

Reflection Two – The Course Plan Review For a couple of years I have dreamed of conducting an online course for job seekers. When I was an intern I created a guide and most recently I created a course plan and directions for one session out of this imaginary course. My work as a novice as my instructor has pointed out is a “good start (McKenzie-White, 2015, assignment feedback)” Going forward with this review it is important to imagine that I am taking steps to implement this online course for job seekers of the 21st century as a novice instructional designer. The first managerial decision is the choice of platform. I have a CourseSite account. This would be my choice. My next task to ensure a smooth launch prior to an invitation to job …show more content…
One area needing great attention are the course objectives. Those need to be rewritten and I need to do some more pondering. Contrasting my course objectives to the extensive term list provided in Bloom’s Taxonomy (Kornuta and Germaine). It seems as if most of the constructs chosen fall under the “knowledge” category only one term falls under the “synthesis” category. When I think about Anderson’s model (2008) I believe the end result of my course would be a product. A resume, a cover letter, a thank you letter and a job in my mind are all products. So my instruction is helping job seekers explore, synthesize and resolve their problem of unemployment. My challenge going forward is to think about these end results and rewrite my objectives utilizing Bloom’s so that my job seekers will understand clearly how to proceed and produce results. I have some important components required and others are missing. Once again using the Anderson model (2008) the chart below highlights what would work and what was omitted according to the Future Professors (2015) and Anderson (Wilcoxon,

In our Business Planning Seminar, we have had the opportunity to work as a virtual team. A virtual team is different than a traditional team within an organization. Our virtual team consisted of individual team members who are separated by physical proximity and distance. Our team was not only separated by distance, but by time zones, cultures, work, and personal lives. Much like a traditional team, our team was united by a shared goal and our interactions were based solely on technology and electronic communication.…

Session five was a big stepping stone for me, I believe I asked questions that guided her and properly validated her feelings, not to mention my powerful use of silence during the whole session. This reflection will shift gears from how I originally lay out my reflections. I usually express the goals I said I would work on and then share the progress I made during the succeeding session. However, I shared my uncertainty about where to take our session after the last one. I believe this doubt helped session five unfold the way it did.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

As a freshman, in 2014, I attended the first few technique courses clueless about adapting to them and writing collegiate papers. Coming from a background of mainly jazz and tap, I knew I would face challenges while learning modern and ballet techniques. One of the many challenges I faced was learning to take advantage of my kinesphere. During each modern class, I was encouraged to dance bigger and really reach out in order for my movement to expand. Even though I found it to be a challenge, I was not aware of how large I could move, until I pushed myself.…

I personally have noticed many changes throughout this course. I mostly noticed how now I analyze my jobs more with my coworkers, bosses and myself. I have one job that I absolutely love and another one that I do not care for very much, I did not really understand why because I get along well with my coworkers and higher ups. As our course went on and I started to understand business some more I then realized why there were certain things that were shaping my views about my jobs. One big thing that I noticed was the team work at my jobs.…

Over the course of this semester in my English 1320 class I have seen a drastic change throughout my writing style. Although I still have difficulties with a few writing tasks, I believe that I have improved significantly throughout this course. I have found that with my professor’s guidance along with my own personal editing that my grades have increased. Although it is difficult to not get caught up in simply striving for a letter grade or attaining a 4.0 grade point average, I would like to believe that my main goal was different. Of course I would love to achieve those goals as well, but overall my primary goal throughout this class was to become more relaxed and comfortable in my writings, to use new strategies and proper kinds of conventions, and to truly find a way to express my passion on these papers.…

As I reflect back on all of the information that I have learned throughout the course there are two concepts that I have gained insightful knowledge about, on being motivation and the other being communication. Within my current role as a Director of Admissions and Marketing both concepts are used within my facility on a daily basis not only within our management team, but among the entire staff. As stated within the text Motivation refers to forces that energize, direct, and sustain an individual’s efforts (Snell, 2013). Communication is another key factor in a work environment. Communication is the transmission of information and meaning from one party to another through the use of shared symbols (Snell, 2013).…

My 3-practicum placements have provided me with different, but great learning experiences. I was able to practice what I have been learning in my other college courses in my practicums. In all my practicums, I was able to build positive relationships with each student and teacher-supervisors that I interacted with. I have worked in a grade 4, grade 1, and now a grade 3 classroom. As I assisted in each classroom I was able to learn what my teacher-supervisors would expect from their educational assistant.…
