Pluto Summary

Improved Essays
Once the smallest member of the planetary system and now merely a “dwarf planet”, Pluto’s story has always fascinated people of the Earth. The tiny planet always manages to intrigue scientists and if the latest report is anything to go by, one can only say that Pluto is peculiar to the core.
Scientists are saying that the planet may have hosted liquids on its surface within the last million years. The fact was stated in a report which was tabled at the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference on Monday, March 21. It said that the finding is quite shocking because the average temperatures fluctuate around -400 Fahrenheit on the frozen world.
The report has rightly baffled the scientists but they are also saying that it is possible. An image of

In his article Pluto and Us (2015), Charles Krauthammer claims most people on this world believe we are so advanced in the knowledge of science, yet we still have to further our knowledge of space because there are a plethora of knowledge to be learned still, and on occasion to the little knowledge we possess currently of the outer world, we still manage to soar. Krauthammer supports his claims about our little knowledge of the outer world by stating logical information by pointing out that we still practically know nothing about the outer world because we still have not been able to find a habitable place to live outside of Earth, and even if we do, we will not be able to communicate with each other as it would take more than a generation…

The discussion for this assessment is to explain, “Why was Pluto demoted to a dwarf planet?” While searching for another planet to explain irregularities in Neptune’s orbit, Pluto was discovered in 1930 by astronomers. At that time, the astronomers gave Pluto very little consideration due to its size, about the size of earth, and way too small to have any affect in altering Neptune’s orbit. As time passed, and technology improved, the size of Pluto was reexamined through improved satellite images, and found to be less than half of Earth’s diameter. Most recently, calculations established on images obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope, show that Pluto’s about one- fifth the diameter of earth and half that of Mercury (considered the runt of…

During recent studies, scientists have discovered prevailing evidence which support the idea that a major meteorite impact may not have been the sole cause of the mass extinction involving the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. Researchers have discovered an array of huge volcanic eruptions in india 66 million years ago which released large amounts of gases into the atmosphere, which drastically altered the climate. This new theory does not in fact eliminate the theory of a massive meteorite being a leading cause for the extinction of the dinosaurs, it simply examines how the meteorite is likely to not be the sole reason of why the dinosaurs may have become extinct. These massive volcanic eruptions are said to have begun 250,000 years before the mass extinction event, and would have lasted a total of 750,000 years, which is fairly short in geological time.…
