Plummer And The Holy Spirit Analysis

Decent Essays
Plummer talks about the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit. He suggests that the Spirit counteracts the sinful inclinations of the mind. I had an opportunity to preach today and the Holy Spirit really guided me through the message. The sermon came out of 1 Samuel 1:10-13 and through studying Hebrew, the message was about Christ being the shining light when we are faced with trials. I believe Christians must depend on him to help us while we are studying and preaching. The way I find Christ in the Old Testament is through translating the words and asking the Holy Spirit for understanding.

Within chapter one of Engaging with the Holy Spirit by Graham A. Cole, we consider the deep theological question, “What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?” Several interpretations are given for this question, such as, attributing Jesus’ work to Satan rather than the Spirit, convincing others against Jesus, and unbelief to name a few. Due to the incredibly large amount of interpretations, Cole charges us to be proactive in properly interpreting this Scripture. If we do not interpret it correctly, we can begin to live in a state of fear and even end-up second guessing our salvation. Furthermore, Cole, along with multiple other theologians, combat this by making a distinction between backsliding or doubting and apostasy or a wholehearted declaration…

(“galatians 5:13-26”) God has not given this freedom so people can live their lives for their own pleasure, but for the first time, they can do what God desires out of love for Him. The Holy Spirit gives true believers this desire to serve God.…
