It would allow for students to test their knowledge about a particular subject by also measuring how successful students are about retaining information but also applying it to the test and seeing what level of difficulty a student can reach. There should not be a minimum required passing rate because it is a test designed to see how much and how well a student learns in school. Instead of the standard scoring of 400 points as the minimum passing rate there should be 10 levels of difficulty that can be reached with level one being the easiest and level 10 being the hardest with all subject material covered on the test if it is covered in class. The test should also be able to adapt to see what topics students do better in and see what topics students are missing questions in so that teachers and school boards can see what needs to properly addressed. Fundamentally the SOL tests were designed to measure what the students know about each core subject taught in school but now it is a test that does not accurately reflect what the general student population knows about each core subject. It may be beneficial by showing teachers and school boards where a student’s education may be lacking but it does not show the complete knowledge of a student or in what area they may be
