What is David Keirsey Telling Us? The title of the book, Please Understand Me II by David Keirsey (2009), had me convinced that the writing was going to cover a lost soul marked as an outcast from the rest of the world. The Foreword text which was written by Ray Choiniere a friend of Keirsey’s helped to define what the book covered in the first paragraph. It was worded to mean that all of us in the world are different in our way and that it is impossible to make us change to please you. Some of us may be similar in ways. However, we will differ in others and from that difference we can learn and develop into better people. The four types of temperaments described in the reading; Artisans, Guardians, Idealist, and Rationals all have distinctive features that make them stand out from the other types. All of us can guess what our type may be after reading the definitions explained in the book, however, to …show more content…
There can be slight changes during the time, but overall, they will always be the same. In the work environment, Linden (2016) describes the importance of managers and individuals to understand the four different temperaments that people may possess. By understanding the four core drivers in each temperament type, it helps in understanding what an individual is talking about in a meeting where they normally may be misunderstood. It can help to understand how to coach and talk about different subjects at work to develop the best method to complete work assignments (p. 48). Keirsey (2009) described the diverse types in detail to help understand the temperament of each one. However, Linden (2016) helped me to see the importance of understanding the types in the workplace.
