Therefore, Clyde’s lawyer offered a plea bargain to Darby because he did not believe there was enough evidence to convict Darby and his accomplice. So instead of trying to get the justice that Clyde and his family deserved he allowed Darby a plea bargain so that his conviction rate would not go down. “Plea bargaining is a defining, if not the defining, feature of the federal criminal justice system” (Devers, Plea and Charge Bargaining). This means that plea bargaining takes a big role in the justice system, some believe that without plea bargaining the number of cases coming to trial would be reduced. When he said, “I’m gonna pull the whole thing down, I’m gonna bring the whole freaking diseased, corrupt temple down on your head. It’s gonna be biblical,” (Gray, Law Abiding Citizen). He was not kidding. He murdered many people just to prove his points and to make people more aware of how corrupted the justice system is. In the movie, everything he did led to the next step of his plan and the justice system was doing everything he wanted it to do. All he wanted was to prove the justice system was flawed and attempt to fix it. In his mind it was necessary to do the things he did in order to try to fix the corrupted justice
