Plc Group Reflection

Our PLC group has influenced my practice by making me aware of the focus areas to improve my practice. I have learned from the PLC to be more observant, to reflect more often, to make sure learning goals are accurate, learning goals are relevant, and to increase the wait time. Our group felt videotaping a small group without us standing with the students would promote the students to talk openly amongst themselves. This would allow the teacher to go back and listen to the conversation, later. I will use what I learned to improve my small group learning, become more comfortable with videotaping, and have students document for their own reflection. My students are starting to be more comfortable being videotaped. I also have them critiquing

For me the activity of working as a group especially with other individuals who I have not worked with or talked to before was a good learning experience that had both positive and negative outcomes using Driscoll’s model of reflection as a frame work to elaborate on how I interpreted what happened, what impact the situation had on me and what I will do in the future if presented with a similar situation (Driscoll and Teh, 2001). We were required to do a 10 minute presentation for a health promotion project that we developed. I decided to work with other individuals who I didn’t know and have not worked with before as I believed I would be more productive and respectful if I worked with people I didn’t know very well. For the first tutorial…

The classroom was a haven for students to discuss practicum issues without feeling afraid to voice opinions and expect positive feedback/encouragements. During group supervision, the instructor gave information that would be useful in any setting and with any populations. She provided information about mental status exams, crisis plans, therapeutic group topics, goal setting, interviewing skills, assessment process, and counseling strategies/techniques. One conversation that I started during my group discussion time was when I made a connection. The connection was when Junior had a lot of deaths that occurred throughout the book, especially people close to him, and I could relate to that because my old dog named Shay recently died from natural causes. As soon as I said this, specifically Nick and Kevin said that they also had loved ones die from natural causes. Although that they didn’t have a pet that died, they were still very close to them and that’s what makes the connection so accurate between my group and the book.…

In the past, teacher leadership was often only for those who wished to advance their careers, and eventually move away from actually being a teacher in the classroom. Today, teacher leadership is for those that wish to analyze current teaching ideas and best practices, assess these methods in their classroom, develop a specialized skill, and then share what they have learned with their colleagues. Teacher leadership is also an important part of shared leadership.…

In starting off this week’s journal entry and as it relates to my effectiveness as a group participant, I would, similarly to last week’s session say this week’s session to be a good illustrator of effective group participation, yes. In contrast, however, I would say this session to be one of my best demonstrations of effective group participation. In an effort to explain the above as well as get into the activities of this week’s session, this week’s opener asked of one to reflect on what has kept them going, kept them motivated when they reflect on their successful completion of the past semester that has upgraded them to the current semester and then now being in the second month of the second semester what has kept that “engine” going.…

In every group, structured or not, the group process has many effects on the overall group. This paper will look at the group processes of our cohort, the interactions between subgroups, and the way that it has affected the overall distance learning cohort. It will look at themes which have played out during our most recent trip to campus, namely subgroups formed, as well as the difference in anxiety levels between the foundation and concentration groups and the behaviors that were demonstrated. Next it will identify and discuss instances of here-and-now moments within the groups and consider the process commentary that we saw emerge and reflect on possible meanings for it. Finally it will depict how the groups illustrated the concepts of…

The grow your skills and to gain a better understanding of yourself as a teacher, reflection is essential. Reflection allows teachers, to look back at lessons, weeks, terms or even years and view what went right and what went wrong thus allowing teachers to start to think critically about what is best for them moving forward. Reflection is crucial to the success of a student teacher, as without it they will struggle to grow, recognise their mistakes and adjust their methods in the future.
