I have played viola in the orchestra since the sixth grade. For nearly seven years of my life, I have been performing in countless concerts and events, and I fell in love with sharing my music with other people from the very beginning. Leo Tolstoy, a Russian novelist, once stated that “Music is the shorthand of emotion.” Through music, I can express my emotions in ways that words could never. Human emotion is powerful. It can dictate our actions, our mood, and allows people to form interpersonal connections. A handful of things can affect a person’s emotions; however, music is arguably the more effective than the others. Happiness, fear, surprise, love, anger – all of these emotions can be conveyed by music, and that is the reason why I became truly passionate about playing in the orchestra. …show more content…
Having been playing with the same orchestra for such a long time, I have made many lifelong friendships and connections. Our high school orchestra is truly one big family, which makes it all the more pleasant to play with them. Outside of my school orchestra, I have participated in numerous community orchestras, camps, weddings, and parties. The most impactful of these out-of-school orchestras is the Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony, which is a music camp in Arkansas. I have been continuously attending this camp every summer since I was in eighth grade. This camp inspired me to take music seriously. The conductors, counselors, and faculty at this camp allowed me to hone my talent, and without this experience, my musical skills would be only a shell of its current
