Every person that is involved with a sport of some kind knows the dangers that come with them. Stepping out onto the court, field, rink etc. a person knows what kind of injuries can occur. One of the main sports that has many injuries would be football. Football is a worldwide sport and it is a popular event from high school all the way to the professional league or commonly known as the NFL. The people in these organizations look past what the risks are for playing football because it brings so much joy. Football involves a lot of violent contact and there is many times in the sport where a person will suffer scary blows to the head. The game has changed so much over the years to try and help reduce the concussions and injuries in the game. Head to head contact was once allowed, but since so many life threatening head injuries have happened rules are enforced now that make head to head contact frowned upon. A penalty is the result when a player purposely causes head to head contact on another player. In some cases it is called targeting and a player will be disqualified from a game. Head injuries are occurring so much that the makers of helmets are being forced to make their equipment almost bulletproof. Saying this I mean that helmets are the safest they have ever been. People are being forced to make all these changes to the game and the equipment for one main purpose; to make the game of football safe so it can continue to be one of the greatest games ever …show more content…
Even though while playing football you are putting your life in danger every play. That is the risk that people take when they step onto the field, athletes know what can happen and that is the risk they take at their own leisure. Actions have been made to make the game safer, since 2004, 122 rules have been made to make the game safe. Football may not be the safest hobby, but it is a fun hobby to have. Once again football is America’s pastime and that should never change. Changes are always going to be made to keep the players safe, but football should never be abandoned or forgotten
