Basketball is played all over the world, and it is one of the very popular athletic games in the United States. People of all ages play this game. Kids as young as the age of four can play at the local YMCA, and older men can play the game at a church on Sunday nights. But those that play the game of basketball very competitively are those that are the real players. Basketball, along with many other games, is a game that has a reward; specifically if played at a college or professional level. Those who play at that level have devoted part of their life to that game. Thus, it becomes easy to learn a lot about that person. Basketball is a very fast-paced and aggressive game. You must run up and down the basketball court. You must play defense to prevent the other team from scoring a basket. And you also must play offense in order to try to score a basket. Basketball is typically played on an indoor court, although outdoor courts do exist. The players of the game can be either male or female; however, in college and professional basketball, the teams are never co-ed. At a time, there are five players from each team on the court; they all must work together in order to fulfill the main purpose of winning. One reason is because an individual really enjoys it; there is something so exhilarating and rewarding about running about and down the court and playing your absolute hardest in order to win. Basketball is always a competition, which is why the game is so enjoyable for those who are extremely competitive. There is competition in practice when you are fighting for playing time against your fellow teammates.
