The first argument Plato gave would be, it is just to give to each is what is owed. With this meaning that those who are just will and cannot harm others. Argument two is that justice is the advantage of the stronger, arguing that a just person will always do what is just (good). An example of this would be that “a just student will always study, instead of going out to a party knowing that they have a workload waiting for them at home”. The final argument is injustice is more profitable than justice: he states that “the unjust can’t be better than the just because they are just”, but with logical theory, he believes that the just are always being taken advantage by the unjust, those who have appetites. Plato goes over four different types of government: Meritocracy, Timocracy, Oligarchy, and Democracy. Meritocracy, considered to be wise, will be ruled by a philosopher king. This is where the idea of natural talent comes from, where they believe that each and everyone has a natural talent and they should do just that. He also recognizes that there could be a possibility of multiple philosopher kings, underlying with the statement that democracy leads to many people trying to pull society in different ways for the good of their appetites. He the define that not just anyone should rule, but that the best: the wise king or the elites can rule, not just the idea of anyone. Plato would consider this to be the best form of government. With Timocracy, this would tie into honor and under this form of government, the people would be ruled by the military, which could also be known as auxiliaries. Within Oligarchy, comes with those who rule under the rich, also known as those who have appetites. In a democracy, all, who is elected into power, you will most likely elect and tyrant, and be under tyrant rule.
