Executive summary
This project is based on for the planning and reduction of drug abuse in north India. India is one of the leading countries in the world which has a large number of drug addicts. To improve this situation, there are many non-government organizations and agencies working together. Government also has taken some various serious steps and plans and schemes to improve the situation and to help those who are addicted to drugs. The work breakdown system shows how the government works to improvise the situation and with the help of government and Non-Government Organizations working together would help a lot in improving the situation.

With a vision for reducing or minimizing the demand and consumption of alcohol and dependence on producing substances and to achieve these objectives the basics is preventive education program, seminars, camps and Whole Person Recovery of the drug dependent persons. After seeing the need for some special and strict action The Ministry of social justice and empowerment had been constantly working on it by making schemes for prevention of alcoholism and drug (substance) abuse in India since 1985. The scheme since then had been revised three times i.e. in 1994 than in 1999 and finally in 2008. It provides financial support to NGOs and employers mainly for the following:
• To provide awareness and educate people about the side effects of alcohol and drug consumption on an individual, society, workplace, family and the country.
• To provide facilities and manpower for counseling, motivation, cure, rehabilitation, de-addiction and finally to make a person drug free.
• To support self-help groups, Non-Government organization who works in the same direction and goal.
• To provide with necessary items from research, documentation, training to prove the above mention points.
