Planning Process

The process of planning is a five step process in which each step builds upon the other. Some with try and eliminate one of the steps in the process which leads to a disaster and only makes difficult situations even more difficult. The five aspects of planning consist of the following requirements,resources,response, research and reality. A good plan starts with two different concerns that must addressed and then applied to all five aspects of the planning process. The first concern that must be addressed is, Why is the plan needed at all? The second concern then addressed, Is what are the requirements needed to make the plan successful? Both of these concerns must be successfully addressed in order for any plan to begin by identifying the requirements of the plan which is the foundation that all other steps are bulit from throughout the entire process.

This part of the process is meant to identify the equipment, type and location of structures, staffing and the funding that will be needed to carry out the plan. Often in this part of the process the human factor which is most important factor is often overlooked or taken for granted by the planners. This resource is critical to the overall success of every plan conceived,because without the staff no plan can regardless of the type can be carried out. This part of the planning process is often extremely complicated due to the many variables such as food for responders, shelter for those affected and often utilities are just a few of the things that must be considered and often require the use of outside agencies which can make cost rapidly escalate depending on the service
