Furthermore, abortion services only make up 3% of Planned Parenthood’s total services provided: 327,653 abortion procedures out of 10.6 million services. To cut funding to an organization that provides essential healthcare people in the U.S. as well as over 1 million outside the country would have detrimental effects ("2013-2014 Annual Report."). As pointed out by democrats, “other health-care providers would be unable to absorb all of Planned Parenthood’s hundreds of thousands of patients” (DeBonis). Thus, the conservative Republican's presumptions that Planned Parenthood is all about abortions, and they therefore need to be defunded, are completely uneducated and ignorant of the…

In “The War on Planned Parenthood,” Katrina Heuvel analyzes threats to reproductive health from a Republican-controlled government. Heuvel critiques Congressional leadership for polarizing rhetoric, the numerous committees investigating Planned Parenthood, and the smear campaign against Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards. The organization annually provides cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing to over 2.7 million Americans (78% of which are low-income), and Heuvel urges readers to fight for reproductive access. The article coherently argues for the preservation of Planned Parenthood, but the use of the Ad Hominem and hasty generalization fallacies undermines the author’s credibility.…

Planned Parenthood should not lose any funding or be shut down. Despite recent abortion controversies, Planned Parenthood should not be held responsible for pro-abortion advocates. The organization is pro-choice, and intends to give the choice back to the people in order to allow them to choose a better life for themselves. If Planned Parenthood loses its funding or gets shut down, people everywhere, but especially low-income families, will be put in a difficult standing in affordable health care and wellness. Furthermore, shutting down Planned Parenthood would put many people at a greater health risk than they have now, and worst yet, it will not end abortion.…

Planned Parenthood is currently under a great deal of scrutiny concerning whether or not they violated Federal Law by selling aborted baby parts. The Federal Government is also trying to decide if they should cut the $500 million of funding that Planned Parenthood receives. Planned Parenthood does much more than just abortions; they do STI/STD testing and treatment, provide multiple types of contraception, cancer screenings and prevention, pregnancy tests and prenatal services, adoption referrals to other agencies, and urinary tract infection treatments. All of these services are available for men, women, and teenagers.…

These groups of people fighting against Planned Parenthood are extremists who are targeting women who especially need the services provided by the non-profit institution. Many of these people are fighting due to their religious viewpoint. No one can force them to change their belief in the matter of abortion, but they need to realize that Planned Parenthood is not the devil in disguise. While the political parties, like GOP, are fighting to save American's tax money. They use the debunked video as evidence during their rallies, they really need to stop and think how the defunding of Planned Parenthood is something that is not okay.…
