Planned Parenthood Chart Analysis

Although I believe that the two-dimensional chart is very helpful in categorizing our politics, I wonder why the chart is not three-dimensional. Victor states that the chart categorizes voters by their level of economic and social ideologies, and the social ideology is based off of support, or lack of support for “racial minorities”. I think that a three-dimensional chart would serve a better purpose. The third factor in the proposed three-dimensional quadrant would be a person’s level of support for women’s rights. Republican leaders in Congress have expressed their lack of support for Planned Parenthood, and some governors, such as John Kasich, have even defunded Planned Parenthood for their states. A person’s level of support for rights affecting groups other than racial minorities speaks volumes about their political views. Like Victor asserts in the article, Republicans and Conservatives are aligning, while Democrats and Liberals are aligning. However, I believe that there are very prominent social issues, such as a woman’s right to choose and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, which are greatly affecting the 2016 election, which Victors argues appears to be making evidence of party realignment. I often find myself wondering throughout this unit how both of the parties changed so drastically. I think that if Trump does not receive the nomination, the Republican Party will have to clean up the mess he left behind. I think that Trump has caused there to be some major misconceptions about the intelligence of the Party, in part due to the Media focusing so intensely on his actions. Nonetheless, I do believe that, if Trump does not receive the nomination, the Republican Party will receive the longer end of the stick. Although I do not believe the two parties will exchange full-fold any time soon, but I do think that Trump receiving the nomination may cause the Cosmopolitans to become more
