Planned Parenthood Abortion

Improved Essays
The most common, and vocal, rational GOP has for the federal government defunding Planned Parenthood is because they offer abortion services, which goes against their ethical beliefs; but in reality, Planned Parenthood actually prevents more abortions than it carries out. Out of the numerous services that Planned Parenthood offers the public, only three percent of all of their procedures are abortions; meaning that ninety-seven percent of everything they do is basic health care and other medical services. Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, lists the statistics in her article, Today, We Fight Back, “every year, 2.7 million people come through the doors of our health centers, a million people participate in our sex education

Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provides reproductive health services. Each year, around 2.7 million women and men visit these health centers, providing them with contraceptives, advice on family planning, services like STI testings, cancer screening and so much more. The organization has received federal funding ever since 1970, but pro-life activists have been trying to petition federal and state governments to defund Planned Parenthood, arguing that the organization is killing many lives with the abortion services it provides to women. But in many cases, abortion is the only choice women have because they can not afford to provide a good life for the baby. Pro-life activists have been trying to convince the government…

Women need Planned Parenthood to help them make the correct medical decisions about their body based on proper medical advice; this organization has helped many women across the nation. The government plans to defund it because they think they own a women’s body. This is false; women own their bodies, not a governing body, a man, or even another woman. The…

But if their own offers is not enough, which I can understand why, I want you to take a look at FactCheck.org. D’Angelo Gore has made the observation: “Congressional Republicans seeking to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood have made versions of the claim that abortions make up 94 percent of the organization’s “pregnancy services.” One House member went even further, saying “94 percent of their business is abortion services.” But that misleading figure only counts certain direct services provided…

Planned Parenthood should not lose any funding or be shut down. Despite recent abortion controversies, Planned Parenthood should not be held responsible for pro-abortion advocates. The organization is pro-choice, and intends to give the choice back to the people in order to allow them to choose a better life for themselves. If Planned Parenthood loses its funding or gets shut down, people everywhere, but especially low-income families, will be put in a difficult standing in affordable health care and wellness. Furthermore, shutting down Planned Parenthood would put many people at a greater health risk than they have now, and worst yet, it will not end abortion.…

The question in question is “should the federal government continue to fund Planned Parenthood?” I think that the government should stay out of personal matters. There are many different avenues to approach Planned Parenthood. My thesis is the government should not fund Planned Parenthood because it is not the taxpayers’ child but it is their money, there are plenty of people that donate to cover the cost of Planned Parenthood, and it should not be placed on the taxpayer to pay for someone else’s choice.…

Education is the key to lowering the percentage of teen pregnancies, abortions, and sexual diseases. In which, the organization has successfully been doing. If Republicans are truly concern on the issue of abortion, then they should work together with Democrats in continuing to fund the organization. Getting into doctor’s offices can be incredibly long and hard process, as documented in Cecile Richards’ article; she talks about a woman that she met who, after her husband lost his job, lost their health insurance. After finding a lump on her breast, she only found two clinics that would take her on as a patient, but they had two-month long waiting lists, so she went to Planned Parenthood.…

Imagine a world where a small group of people could destroy a nation-wide organization with slanderous lies. If the Republicans in Congress get their way, Americans wouldn’t have to imagine. Planned Parenthood is an organization that provides many essential health services for both men and women. Not only do these services directly benefit millions of people, but the scientific advancements made possible by Planned Parenthood have improved the lives of many more.…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
