Planned Parenthood Abortion Case Study

In December of 2015, a women living in Tennessee named Anna Yocca, age 31, attempted to abort her pregnancy in her own home using a wire coat-hanger. Since the pregnancy was 24 weeks along, which is just about the limit to which an abortion will be performed by a clinic, she is being charged with the attempted murder of her unborn child. There are not many details provided in the article about any possible circumstances surrounding the case and there is hardly anything written about the mother apart from the police sergeant, Kyle Evans, bluntly saying that she tried to murder her baby. It’s 2016 and there are still restrictions that exist to impede on a woman’s right to make decisions regarding abortion and other reproductive issues. Within in the last several years or so, there have been bills introduced to further limit reproductive rights and there were even certain states that chose defund and close down Planned Parenthood clinics. There have been some very harsh and combative movements made against abortion and a woman’s right to chose which, in my opinion, is why there are women who still are making the decision to self-abort their pregnancies. A woman getting an abortion is not an act of cruelty and it is not decision made lightly as some are convinced
