One day in school, word spread around that a new, innovative technology was going to be introduced. Curiosity led me to attend the showing of the da Vinci surgical system. Although I did not get to perform incredible acts of surgery with the machine, I learned about its potential and made me wonder about the other creations that continue to revolutionize the world. By joining the Plan II Honors program, I hope to learn about the discoveries in our world and understand how people think. I also want to develop my critical thinking skills and gain knowledge in different fields and understand how they interconnect. By working with others and exchanging ideas, I hope to learn and contribute more by using this knowledge to create a memorable and useful independent research my senior year. …show more content…
For example, Casa Juan Diego, where I regularly volunteer, started from a group of friends with a dream to help new Spanish immigrants. Through smart leadership decisions and gaining support, they quickly grew to become a well-known safe refuge for immigrants.
