Plagiarism Reflection

Studying all day and all night, having massive amounts of stress, and not being able to refrain the information of an enormous semester long course. These are all emotions and fears that are brought to mind whenever somebody mentions the words “college course.” My first thought with ENC 1101 was, “oh my God how am I going to accomplish all of these essays and MindTap exercises? I am going to fail this class and not be able to remember what I learned by the end! I’m doomed!” Luckily, I had the nicest college professor ever! Dr. VanCamp had a systematic way for assigning us essays and picking the MindTap exercises that best was best associated with what I was learning in that module. I did learn grammar all throughout the course and am now proficient enough to be confident in my essays. Granted, I’m not perfect in it and I need help still but that’s a story for another time (or paragraph.) I learned all about plagiarism and its effects on me if I do it. I honestly had no idea that IRSC took plagiarism that seriously. I do not plagiarize but I was shocked to find out that a paper that you wrote earlier is considered plagiarism if you use it again. Yeah, admittedly not my smartest move. As someone with any sort of common sense could probably tell you, I got docked. I got docked hard! My grade might as well have swan dived off of the International Space Station and plummeted forever. That is what happened in my mind to my English grade as it was sitting pretty at a Ninety-Nine and then with one assignment, I watched it free fall to a C. Many life lessons were also learned but …show more content…
I achieved what I set out to do at the beginning of the year by learning grammar and how to write in MLA format. I also learned a vast amount of information that is beneficial like the effects of plagiarism and why I should not procrastinate. However, there are sections of ENC1101 that I still require assistance with such as punctuation and the revision process. I do not think I would have had the success I have had in this course if it was not for my professor Dr. VanCamp. ENC 1101 has been an amazing class and I have learned so much from this course! Hopefully I can continue to learn and grow in
