This leads to major miscommunication, in many cases the students end up plagiarizing. On the following Journal of College Student Development, professors Scanlon and Neumann conduct a survey on plagiarism and cheating. They state,
“The Internet may be exacerbating the long-standing problem of student plagiarism on college campuses. Moreover, Internet plagiarism raises important questions of academic integrity as students—as well as faculty—frequently turn to online sources, and it foregrounds issues related to the correct handling and citation of online sources.” (374) which raises another problem in the plagiarist world. Often times the issue these “delinquents” have, is not knowing the correct way of citing a source.
