Decent Essays
The use of the internet over the years by high school students has grown exponentially, it is not only hurting their social skills but their education as well. High School students aren’t putting enough effort into what they are doing because they are too busy looking at something online. And it has gotten to a point where some high school teachers find it okay. We ourselves, as high school students or former high school students, are only making things worse by following in the same footsteps. For example some students today don’t even worry about making the grade or working hard on a project that is due soon, all they have to do is search it on Google and copy and paste the first thing that comes up. And we find this okay as if plagiarism

The difference between Plagiarism and Self- Plagiarism is that Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty when used someone’s ideas, words or images as one’s own without properly crediting the person or citing the source of information. On the other hand, Self-plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty by which a student uses an old assignment or part of previous assignment and submits it as new work without citing the original work. I believe self-plagiarism is a violation of academic integrity. As a student, we are encouraged to make our writing unique, original and creative.…

In Bryant University, plagiarism is defined the dishonest use of assistance in the preparation of outside or in-class assignments. Students are expected to submit works that are their own. The consequences of plagiarizing portions of a research paper, cheating, or sharing assignment answers are receiving a score zero for the assignment, lower final grade, or failure in the course. In addition, if students are not sure whether they are plagiarizing or not, they could check with their instructors. I am satisfied with the explanations offered, because the consequences of plagiarism are justice to every student.…

The article I have chosen to write about is, Brent Staples, “What Adolescents Miss When We Let Them Grow Up in Cyberspace.” Because kids spend most of their time on the web, Staples argues that “online communities isolate adolescents and hinder their social development” (Staples 241). Although I find this to be true, I also find it to be wrong. Even with the internet's revolutionary functions that help the world, the internet is hurting adolescents who will one day run the world. Brent Staples starts his essay by talking about how he had to meet his girlfriend’s father back when he was in the 10th grade.…

It is pretty unbelievable how often I have seen them cheating.” This is a comment about international students who study in western countries posted in China Business. We all know someone that cheats or has cheated before. That’s why I think Hotchkiss High School needs an Honor Code. when someone cheats or plagiarizing, they aren’t learning anything. High School students use technology as an excuse to avoid many things; if schools have stricter policies of when and where technology is able to be used or educate students how to avoid the distraction of technology, this problem will disappear over time. The brilliant invention of technology had become harmful to the public due to its degrading and violent media, as well as the many distractions in the classroom and road. The issue of social avoidance is mainly due to the undemanding and accessible world of technology. People have become unaware of the dangers of this phenomenon. Plagiarism is one of the biggest problems in the field of education, teachers, professors students, have all been caught stealing other people’s ideas without giving them proper credit fit it. As students of this high school, we have noticed, I have noticed a great change. We have gone towards a path of technology, a path to distance ourselves further from the important things in front of us. We find ourselves using computers more and more to complete our homework. In a society that is already full of “technology users” who ignore the most important things in life, we see the schools who are very adamant to keep the student from using their own technology, adding school assignments onto the internet.…

Since the internet was invented in 1990, many platforms and interfaces have been created to further it as a means of communication. However, with these new forms of communication becoming increasingly available to the general public,, sentiments and opinions have found their way into the internet. Not all of these feelings are nice, and many people are affected by the strident remarks posted online. Because of how these statements may affect a student, a particular concern is how students handle relations online.
